Shared, damaged toilets. No running water at the handwashing stations. Unsafe drinking water.
We’re fixing something small that changes everything
The Problem
Kalika Basic School serves 110 children from the rural community of Tatopani, Jumla. Yet conditions deny them basic dignity, safety, and the right to learn.
Broken squat pans urgently need replacement.
Handwashing taps are non-functional, no reliable way to wash hands.
Drinking water is stored in an open garbage-bin container, risking contamination and waterborne disease.
Only two toilet stalls shared by all 110 students and staff.
Hear from them
“If we don’t have a proper water system, a good toilet is useless”
”
“We get our water from a dust bin, and it may cause health issues because its dirty.”
”
“Instead of using the toilet at school, I just go home, we feel shy because we share a toilet with the girls””
What We’ll Do- Our Two-Phase Plan
Phase 1 — Immediate (November/December): 220953 NPR (~2,183.86 CAD)
Hygiene education workshops for students & staff (November 24-26).
Replace broken squat pans and repair taps so toilets can be used safely.
Install proper water delivery from tanks — stop the open-drum method.
Phase 2 —February 2026 (Budget pending)
Construct a more suitable, separate toilet block for students.
Explore and (if viable) install a biosand filtration system for sustainable, clean drinking water.
A healthy learning environment is not a luxury. It is a foundation.
When kids feel safe and dignified at school, they stay in school.
And when they stay, everything becomes possible.
Donate. Share. Give a shit.
We begin at Kalika this month. Let’s do this together.
